About Us

It all started at a craft club workshop by Taz’s mum in her shed. She took us through how to make our first terrarium and this soon grew into an all consuming hobby. Taz had some experience with aquatic tanks in the past and both of us had a love for nature.

We had watched youtubers for years creating beautiful nature art but always felt it was far too complex for us. However, after attending that craft club workshop, it changed everything. It didn’t seem so scary anymore and then …you couldn’t stop us.

Our hobby soon took over our flats, time and finances but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We made terrariums as gifts and started an Instagram to document all our projects.

Folk seemed to like them and we got our first commissions to make custom terrariums as gifts. We thought there might be others out there like us, afraid to start, so we started doing small workshops for friends.

Taz had run and assisted in various art workshops in the past and Craig ran a terrarium workshop for a local women’s group. With that experience under our belt we decided to take on our first official terrarium workshop in Folia in Ayr as Tanks ‘N’ Terrariums. It was a great success and has pushed us to keep going.

We are both autistic, disabled people. So we aim to make our workshops as accessible to as many people as we can; with that being at the core of our ethos. We try to use accessible venues, will explain access notes prior and accommodate access needs where we can. We pride ourself on creating a low sensory, calming environment to help our workshops feel cosy and relaxing.
